1st double page spread analysis

On this magazine it has drop capital on the second page to start of a paragraph. this is done to make the article look interesting and stylish, but it can also help the reader keep track of where they are in reading the magazine so they don't get lost. there is an S in the background of the magazine because the first word of the page begins with S, however the first word still has an S at the front of it, the positioning of it is too big and will cause the reader to be confused if they did that. It is used for gimmick to inject more energy into the layout.

The way the double page is laid out is that the image takes up the first page which is the one people will look at first, then they will look at the S on the next, start reading the first column which is bolder and wider for the reader to start reading at, then it leads onto the next long column which is thinner and has more information in there and finally it continues onto the next page as there is an arrow pointing for the reader to turn over. The way it work is like a book, the image is like the front cover, the first column is the first chapter to help ease the reader into the book or article and grab their attention, once hooked the reader will continue to find more information in the rest of the text  and it will get more complex, which is why it is not recommended that the reader should not start there.

The first sentence is describing the photoshoot yet it sounds very disturbing and descriptive of what he/she can see, "blood running down her forehead, staring into the camera" this is hyperbole to exaggerate things to make the article more interesting and engaging for the reader.
